SEWING UKRAINE TOGETHER
When Ukrainians attempt to identify themselves as a people they inevitably encounter with a problem of national duplicity. Ukraine’s history has always been a history of a country torn apart between different statehoods and cultures, a country whose inhabitants haven’t had much chance to know each other better. This bad case of immune conflict of mentalities needs to be remedied, as only mental integrity of the people can preserve the territorial integrity of the country. This project aspires to cure that condition by implanting (literally sewing with a thread and a needle) Ukraine’s ethnic symbols and colors into landscapes of all parts of Ukraine, the East and the West, the Crimea and the North.
