Giving a Voice to Photographers and Video-makers from the Ukraine
This series of portraits of women selling fish was shot in Kharkiv, Ukraine, at the time when peaceful protests were just starting. At that time the colors of Ukraine’s national flag, even found on a tent of fishmonger’s stall, acquired a new meaning for Ukrainians, and, ironically, women with blue and yellow in the background became portrayals of the Motherland itself.
