Giving a Voice to Photographers and Video-makers from the Ukraine
The East of Ukraine means Donetsk and Lugansk regions. The East of Ukraine is on fire. On the line of fire, to be precise. Those who started it call themselves separatists and defenders of Russian-speaking Ukrainians. Everybody else calls them thugs and terrorists.
The images in Mstyslav Chernov’s post tell a dramatic story of how people in the East of Ukraine were cheated into supporting separatist ideas and found themselves in the middle of a war instead. The images portray those who protest against the war and those who support Russian invasion, Ukrainian troops engaged in anti-terrorist operation and armed rebels terrorizing the civil population. They picture death and grief, hope and despair.
